To fold an origami crane, frog, butterfly, or even a ninja star you need just accuracy and patience. Our step by step animated origami diagrams are not going to challenge your patience, however, because they are very easy to follow, even for a child. You don‘t have to remember a number of origami bases — each model starts from a plain piece of paper. You don‘t have to know the names of the folds — the text tips don‘t contain special terms. Our step-by-step instructions are the easiest way to learn how to make traditional origami animals, flowers, boxes and lots of other interesting things. By the way, origami develops logical reasoning, attention span, spatial thinking and fine motor skills. Consider that when you’re trying to keep fidgety kids busy.

I‘ve tried to make the instructions on these page as straight forward as possible… but if you don‘t understand right away, don‘t head for the rubbish bin! Give it time… keep looking at the instructions, and give it another go. And don‘t forget to read the instructions as well as looking at the diagram picture: both contain important information.

Before you begin, it is great to stock up one some lovely Origami Paper or colourful paper pads (not construction paper, but paper that also fits into printers, it is lighter and better for folding)! We like to use a mixture of plain colours and pattern paper. You can get them quickly and easy online!!!

The model is moved in small increments between individually photographed frames, creating the illusion of movement when the series of frames is played as a continuous sequence.

Most of the graphics for it can be found in the wings and tails files, or you can draw your own with the straight line. However, you will need to draw your own top wing and also draw some connecting lines between the wings and the cockpit. Once this is done, add the side intake scoops and landing gear. Don‘t forget an assortment of missiles or bombs. Finish up with some markings, like on this U.S. Air Force version. This is a good design from which to create a squadron of fighters.

Holidays are celebrated with colorful origami decorations made by the family. On children‘s day (formerly boy‘s day), children make colorful carp: a fish that swims upstream, against the current. This symbolizes strength. During the summer, Tanabata, The Star Festival is celebrated. Live bamboo branches are decorated with origami stars and other paper decorations in a manner which brings to mind a decorated Christmas tree.
