You can do these with any kind of paper although I really, really recommend you use origami paper and you can even get a patterned origami paper which is beyond adorable!
Learning that her illness came as a result of war, Sadako spreads her message of peace as she folds her cranes. Soon she has folded hundreds of cranes. Her health improves and she is allowed to come home. But, when her illness returns and her strength weakens, sadly, she isn‘t able to complete her project. With less than 700 cranes completed, Sadako lapses into a coma and dies. When her classmates realize that she had not been able to complete her dream they all decide to learn how to fold the crane. Soon the 1,000 cranes are complete.
Actually, ALL origami is decorative, including MANY of the lovely ideas above, but I had to somehow group these sections to make browsing easier…. Maybe I should have done it by Origami season!!!
These little heart bookcorners "technically" are more Kirigami can Origami.. but they are so cute and again, so easy, that I think they need including in an round up of easy origami for kids!!! You don‘t HAVE to use them as bookmarks, again, these would look really nice on a DIY Valentine’s Day Card or similar!
